About Mama Row’s Caramel

Mama Row’s Caramel is not just about dessert. It is about legacy, love, and resilience. Our business was born from the story of Rachell Hudson, lovingly known as Mama Row, whose caramel recipe and life lessons continue to inspire us today.

Mama Row was a woman of incredible strength, the heart of her family, a mother, and a woman who believed in turning hardship into hope. She taught her children that life’s challenges could be transformed into something sweet. Her caramel recipe was not just about flavor. It was about patience, perseverance, and pouring love into everything you do.

In 2001, Mama Row passed down her caramel recipe and her philosophy to her eldest son, Jonathan Hudson. After her passing in 2018 from lung cancer, Jonathan found it difficult to even look at her photo. In 2023, with $184 and his mother’s recipe, Jonathan chose to turn grief into purpose by launching Mama Row’s Caramel.

What began in their small kitchen in Burien, Washington, has now grown into a thriving brand. You will find us at Seattle’s top farmers markets, community events, and we are scaling to serve caramel lovers across the country.

For us, Mama Row’s Caramel is about more than what is in the jar. It is about uplifting others. We partner with schools, donate to food banks, support cancer research, and mentor young people through internships and speaking engagements. We believe in using caramel as a bridge to healing, to joy, and to community.

This is legacy work. This is love in every layer. And we are honored to share Mama Row’s story and her sweetness with you.
